Skeleton Coast Camp is built in a sheltered bend on the dry Khumib River, within the private concession of the Skeleton Coast in Namibia. The concession stretches from south of the Hoarusib River to Cape Frio in the north and covers the width of the National Park. This National Park was Diamond area No. 3 before being proclaimed.
Due to restricted access very few people have visited this enchantingly desolate and windswept piece of paradise. This area can only be accessed by air.
Most mornings, the cool Atlantic Ocean mist collides with the hotter Namib Desert air producing a moist coastal fog that envelops the coastline, creating a sense of mystery and impenetrability as well as providing precious moisture for the inhabitants of this area. The Skeleton Coast in Namibia has fascinating desert-adapted vegetation such as welwitschia and lithops, the succulent 'flowering stones', and the bizarre elephant's foot found in rocky crevices. Birding is also very good in the area.

Airstrip Details
Located one minutes’ drive from Skeleton Coast Camp in Namibia – this is a soft sand strip which is suitable for Caravans only. Cessna 210 aircraft would have to use Puros Airstrip – guests can then be transferred from this airstrip to the camp but the journey can take anything from one to three hours as there is so much fascinating scenery to stop and see en route.
