The Doro Nawas Conservancy, Damaraland, Namibia is an excellent base for discovering Twyfelfontein, a World Heritage Site with its magnificent Rock Art and engravings, a Petrified Forest and incredible geological formations. In the distance the Etendeka Mountains can be seen.

Wildlife in the Doro Nawas Conservancy, Damaraland, Namibia is surprising in its diversity despite the arid habitat. Desert adapted Elephant are a particular highlight in this area amongst other creatures who can survive the harsh conditions. Birdlife is also excellent with some species seen in times of good rainfall when the landscape undergoes a magical transformation.

The Doro Nawas community play an active role as landlords of the conservancy and all camp staff are employed locally. The conservancy is a great example of what is possible with modern community-based ecotourism. Doro Nawas Camp stands on 407 300 hectares of conservancy land and can be easily reached on self-drive and fly-in itineraries.
